There is a need for volunteers to help with the conservation of the library at Cluny Castle, which is situated between Monymusk and Sauchen.   Interested volunteers should contact the Chairman via the Feedback link on our home page

GDFAS Heritage Volunteers are teams of committed non-specialist volunteers who work under the guidance of curators and other professionals to help conserve our heritage.

Heritage Volunteers undertake projects for:

  • museums

  • National Trust properties

  • historic houses

  • libraries and gardens

They give their time to care for collections and they are trained by professional conservators, advisors or curators.

GDFAS members are still working on re-organising artists' files in Aberdeen Art Gallery

Other local projects have included:

  • On-site conservation of books, manuscripts, archives and maps at Craigston Castle, Aberdeenshire.

  • Cataloguing documents and archival listing at Aberdeen Art Gallery
